Yves Ramette is one of the greatest French symphonists of the XXth century. Having studied with Arthur Honegger, Yves Ramette composed numerous works in the French post-romantic tradition, including six symphonies performed in various countries by famous conductors such as Daniel Sternefeld, Eduard van Beinum and Eugène Bigot. His output also includes many organ and piano pieces, as well as several chamber and vocal compositions.

Mon œuvre est une profession de foi. À l’opposé de tout art abstrait ou stérile, et sans tomber dans un romantisme attardé, ma musique proteste contre toute facilité et décadence. Yves Ramette, 1963

« My work is a profession of faith. Away from abstract or sterile art, and without falling into late romanticism, my music protests against simplistic approach and decadence. »
